CLEAR LIGHT ASTROLOGY

The Great Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction Dec 2020

Jupiter and Saturn’s dance takes approximately 20 years to join up with each other, forming a conjunction.
A conjunction is when two celestial bodies are orbiting the same celestial longitude; in other words, travelling in the same specific section of the sky which is associated by the signs of the zodiac.

Jupiter relates to expansion of the mind through broadening your horizons, and religious/political values in your environment. Saturn relates to boundaries, how you restrict yourself and Self-discipline. What these two planets bring together is the development of social destiny.
Saturn consolidates and makes things concrete which gives quality to the social participation that is envisioned by Jupiter.

The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is the new cycle of development in an individual’s approach to any Life-long problem that effects relating the conscious ego (represented by Saturn) to the social activities of their community (represented by Jupiter).
If you know your exact birth time, these conjunctions can be found in the precise House (specific area of Life) of your birth chart, thus giving a personalized description of what to focus on. If there is an approximate time, you can still obtain a good overview of how to go about it. If the birth time is not known, looking at the Solar House position (placing the Sun at the ascendant) may give pertinent information which can still compliment any indications of what to expect.

On December 22nd 2020 (AusEST), the exact conjunction will occur at 0◦29’ Aquarius, so right at the beginning of the fixed air sign. When big planetary transits or configurations happen at important degrees (the very first degree, being 0◦, or the last degree, being 29◦ of any sign) they can feel like a catalyst for change, as they are at the initiation point or the ending point. The intensity from these transits can feel like a crisis, but it is important to note that the term crisis is not a bad thing!
These cycles are merely measurements of change. In order for any purpose to be realized, change must take place, and change always involves crisis.
In our society today we feel a level of difficulty in certain words, and one of those is crisis as that is often confused with catastrophe. This needs to be rectified, as the word crisis derives from the Greek work Krino, meaning “To decide”, therefore means a time for decision. A crisis is a turning point; that which precedes change. In order to avoid a crisis is to avoid change itself, which is an obvious impossibility.

Wherever 0◦ Aquarius falls in your birth chart will be of significant importance, as this is the activation point of the new cycle. Depending on what house system you use, this may alter where the degrees lie slightly. If you are still novice enough to not know about the house systems, do not fret! Just know that if 0◦ Aquarius is at the very beginning or very end of one house, this can bring over the meanings from that one house and integrate it with proceeding house. If you are still confused, please don’t hesitate to contact me for help.

The Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction through the houses:

1st house: The house of the physical body and identity. This conjunction will be felt in a big way! You will feel the need to react very personally to whatever challenges come at the beginning of this new social-political-economic cycle. You will feel the need to discover and bring a clearer focus of consciousness what you potentially are as an individual ego. A good way to accomplish this is through utilizing the pressures that social conditions of movement exert onto you.
Being in Aquarius, the sign of social reform, you can feel the need to be active more than ever about making a change to the old systems, whether that be taking part in protests more regularly, changing your Lifestyle to align with your views so that you walk the talk, or even simply taking the time to remain being informed whilst informing others about the global changes and trends.

2nd house: The house of values and possessions. This conjunction will challenge you to gain a new perspective on the use you make of your inherited or acquired social and cultural gifts. This will become increasingly important when the Jupiter-Saturn cycle eventually evolves, thus making what you have individually given to society as concrete and workable. You must use your natural muscular strength, your mental abilities and intuition, whilst also maintaining your social position; entering more fruitful relationships with other people.

3rd house: The house of intellect and direct environment. The conjunction will challenge you to use whatever social sense you have as a new and better way in your daily contact with your environment. You should attempt to live according to some well-defined social or cultural purpose through which you can demonstrate concretely who and what you are. You must remember to remain as practical as possible for the duration of this conjunction – this is because the 3rd house is our everyday environment, so cutting corners, rushing and being flippant will have consequences to pay from Lord Karma, Saturn.

4th house: The house of home and the subconscious. This new cycle will focus upon the home Life and the ability to make things concrete in your everyday personality, whatever vision and understanding you may have on the larger social realities of Life. This can be a time of making necessary changes involving laying down new roots in order to find greater stability to uphold other aspects of your Life, such as your professional and social Life. Aquarius is a social sign, embodying humanity as a brotherhood. This can show a time when embracing a collective group, such as one that resembles a humanitarian issue can give you support, or act as a new type of backbone that supports you by giving you new meaning.

5th house: The house of pleasure and creativity. The new cycle will have society as well as your own inner ‘destiny’ asking you to creatively contribute something new to your community. Living through a time when this conjunction occurs in this house will spark a lot of creative juice for you – there will be a purpose felt which will stem from social pressures or challenges of this present day society, and these will be revealed with more clarity, especially in terms of abilities or powers necessary to the outer realization of this purpose. You should try to embrace the freedom in being an educator or mentor of some sort during this time.

6th house: The house of practical service. This new cycle of social, cultural and religious change will be directed towards your capacity for service, endurance and Self-discipline. You will be required to learn and work with new techniques in order to meet the needs of the current times. The 6th house shows our basic response to social situations in which we find ourselves. Various facets of this response will require transformation and expansion so that the contribution you make to the productivity and the growth of your community will have a positive effect. Aquarius relates to group activities, so it will help finding discipline through group effort will be highly valuable through this transit.

7th house: The house of relating to others through one-to-one basis. This initiates a period in which this challenging new cycle wants to gain a new perspective and sense of relating to one another, as well as altering the value placed on one’s community participation. The 7th house is our foundation and testing-ground for all future public, professional, and socio-cultural achievement. This being said, it is recommended that you now try to alter your interpersonal relationships so that there can be an effective, creative and significant participation between partnerships in the working world. You should make sure that your relationships are not based on selfish acts, nor should there be isolationistic tendencies, as Aquarius is about forming a unity with others, and Jupiter wants to expand in that area with Saturn creating that into a tangible reality.

8th house: The house of other’s resources and transformation. This new cycle transit will challenge you to Self-regeneration. This can incorporate the long awaited results of any established partnerships (whether it be a marriage, business relationship, or any group contact). You now have the chance to reflect and review on any habitual instinctual-emotional and social-cultural patterns of activity, feeling, and thoughts in your relationships. This is a time to change the purpose such relationships, and how you utilize the resources from those relations. Are you taking those resources for granted? Can you be giving back to those relationships more than what you have been? This is a period of breaking down and transforming all of these aspects to build up a solid basis for such resources and relationships.

9th House: The house of beliefs, higher knowledge and socialization. This conjunction placed here can feel like a particularly tense time, as there are issues relating to social adjustment. There needs to a shifted awareness, but this will bring a greater sense of abstract thinking, philosophy and religion/spirituality. You are now asked by Life to make a determined effort to grow spiritually beyond your existing limitations. In order to do this, you must be ready to assimilate many things that are unknown to you. There needs to be a willingness to include your world outlook ideas which up to now have felt alien, or even perhaps disturbing.

10th house: The house of the professional Life, and life goals. This new cycle activating in this part of the chart will bring opportunities that directly relate to your social status and professional Life. This can involve changes in the way one assumes and delegates responsibilities in the community. The decisions made now can blemish one’s power as a social/professional leader, so watch out for the desire to use the inflated ego (Jupiter) and the authoritative power play (Saturn). This is a time to ask your Self how you would like to be judged by society and posterity. You should determine exactly what you are ready to do and emotionally free to do with your professional, social, cultural, and/or religious/spiritual abilities.

11th house: The house of hopes and wishes, and humanitarian ideas. This Jupiter-Saturn cycle can provide you with the opportunity to change your ideals in order to gain a new perspective on social processes or functions that peak your interest.  You must be ready to associate spontaneously with those who offer the insight to instigate such changes. Any recent social success or decline can lead to a new creative departure, provided that you have not identified yourself too closely with your struggle for achievement. Either way, the way in which you now utilize the experience and the energies in your professional or public activity will prove your true worth as an individual.

12th house: The house of Self-undoing, the unconscious and solitude. This new cycle will require a new adjustment to social realities which require a last look at the ending phase of personal experiences. Something needs to come to seed from your ancestral, societal, cultural, or religious past (i.e. the individual karma). The challenge here now is for you to extract from this seed the foundation for a new Life, for this new cycle that confronts you. It will also mean gaining the courage to renounce the ghosts of the past cycle. A social ‘crisis’ (not to be mistaken for catastrophe, but a means for change) now is the outcome of the way in which you have worked out your relationship with family and community. This is the transition between what you must face up to, out of your past, and the call of a fresh new beginning.
